I was asked by Slowways to pick a walk from Leeds and to produce a piece of work inspired by my journey. So in early spring 2022 I walked the 9 miles from Woodhouse, Leeds to Barwick in Elmet.
I picked an area of Leeds I was unfamiliar with, taking me to the edges of the city and leading me out into the countryside.
I documented my walk through photography, written thoughts and quick sketches. Upon completing the walk I produced a painting inspired by the winding footpaths, the clashing colours of urban and natural landscapes and the quiet peaceful sounds of an early Sunday morning.
